SUMMARY:Makhosi Foundation Open House & African Dance Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Dance & drum in our community is communication and prayer with our ancestors. It raises our energetic vibrations through the umbilini (kundalini) and is a healing ritualistic practice. Our elder Credo Mutwa describes umibilini as a hot coiling snake bursting through the top of your head. We honor traditional ways of healing and moving through the body bringing consciousness to the health of all our bodies: spiritual\, physical\, emotional\, & intellectual.\nMakhosi Foundation is dedicated to preserving indigenous cultural knowledge\, healing arts & conscious spiritual traditions through educational programs that facilitate a cosmological connection with nature and well-being. Dance programming at our temple is essential to our communal health and vitality. Our spiritual\, physical\, and emotional bodies are awakened and thrive through movement of energies and move any stagnant energy out of the bodies energetic field and tissues. Join us in creating consistent programming with renowned master teachers Ms. Sadie Lee & Nana Yaw Asiedu\, internationally recognized artist Makeda Kumasi\, and other talented dancers in our area.\nOur fundraiser is on Saturday\, July 22 from 11am-5pm where we offer Ancestral Yoga led by Gogo Uthando\, Intro to S k r led by Gogo Lobolo Wendoda\, African Dance classes with Ms. Sadie Lee & Nana Yaw Asiedu\, and Makeda Kumasi. Enjoy the day in the hills at our temple surrounded by mustard seed and buoyant eucalyptus while you support the spiritual blossoming of our community and African dance programming. For those traveling from San Diego or Los Angeles\, our little farm is a serene respite from the bustle of the city.
