Operation Pet Wellness: Free Pet Services for Military & Veteran Pet Owners in San Diego County

Dogs on Deployment is thrilled to announce the inaugural launch of Operation Pet Wellness: Spay Day for Military Companions. This initiative marks a significant milestone in our enduring partnership with the San Diego Spay & Neuter Action Project. Since 2016, we have collaborated to ensure over 2,000 military-owned companion animals in San Diego County received essential spay and neuter services. These animals, belonging to active-duty and veteran military families, have been at the heart of our mission.

This successful venture has led to the prevention of approximately 52,000 potential litters. Such an impact is crucial in a region where local animal shelters and rescues face overcrowding challenges. Our efforts not only promote the wellbeing of military pets but also play a vital role in controlling the companion pet population.

In 2024, we're elevating our commitment by hosting four special events, one per quarter, exclusively dedicated to providing free spay and neuter services to military pet owners.

The following services are eligible for active-duty military members, rank E-4 and below:

Free microchips

The following services are eligible for active-duty military members, rank E-6 and below, and honorably discharged veterans with at-least 2-years of active-duty service:

Spay & Neuter Drop-Off: 7:00 AM (Felines), 7:30 AM (Canines)

Vaccines & Microchips: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Spay & Neuter Pick-Up: 4:00 PM

Once approved for a grant, schedule your appointment with San Diego Spay & Neuter Action Project for February 25th here. 

For microchip and vaccines only, select an appointment time here. Walk-ins may not be accepted.
