Innovative Texturized Prints- Printmaking Class

Tuesday, June 7, 2022 (1:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (PDT)

Description

Let your imagination run wild as you learn an innovative art form known as encaustic collograph printmaking. This style of printmaking is all about having fun and experimenting with textures to create prints with a wow factor! The sky’s the limit to the artful designs you can achieve. Join Instructor Irene Maloney as she takes you on a journey into this process beginning with sculpting softened wax with textured items such as lace, feathers, mesh, stencils, etc. to create your “plate” which is the base for all prints. Then it’s time to put your plate to work as you explore various printmaking methods including intaglio, viscosity, ghost, etc. Once your print has been pressed, get ready to ooh and ahh as you peel back the layers to reveal your art! Irene will demonstrate several printmaking techniques, answer questions, and help you delve into taking your prints to the next level. For those with previous encaustic collograph experience, Irene will provide more advanced techniques to challenge you, but no experience is needed and beginners are welcome! Work with non-toxic Akua ink in a range of colors and special printmaking paper made just for this process. Two (2) plates and four (4) 8x10” prints (on 11x15” paper each) are included. If you’d like to make more prints, additional paper is available for $8/ea during class. Please note, there is an additional $10 cash-only supply fee due at workshop.
